Sustainability Director - LATAM
Gerardo's professional carrier is in the field of sustainability and environmental health and safety (EHS). Over the span of several years, Gerardo played pivotal roles in renowned organizations, contributing significantly to their sustainability initiatives.
At PUMA GROUP, where Gerardo served as the Regional Manager for the LATAM Region in Supply Chain Sustainability from September 2015 to April 2023, he emerged as a dynamic leader spearheading global strategy implementation and novel projects at the regional level. His focus on dematerialization analysis, identifying sustainable materials to diminish the carbon footprint, showcased a forward-thinking approach. Moreover, Gerardo showcased a keen awareness of working conditions and EHS standards, providing valuable recommendations based on legal obligations and internal standards.
One of Gerardo's key strengths lay in his ability to translate strategy into action. He defined, prioritized, and implemented plans and projects aimed at achieving sustainability targets, ensuring periodic reports reached all levels of the organization. His leadership extended to the oversight of social and environmental audit programs at a regional level, including PUMA audits, SLCP, and Higg Index. Notably, Gerardo was entrusted with the responsibility of annual reporting campaigns, highlighting his standing as a trusted figure representing PUMA in dialogues with third parties and NGOs.
Prior to his role at PUMA, Gerardo served as the EHS Manager at Lagomarsino S.A. from September 2014 to September 2015. Here, he undertook the formidable task of initiating the EHS department, defining its strategy, targets, and action plans. Gerardo's commitment to improving workers' conditions was evident as he identified and mitigated areas of risk at Lagomarsino's sites. His role extended to the implementation of a comprehensive EHS management system for company sites in Argentina, covering system architecture, policies, procedures, training programs, reward systems, communication strategies, and annual reporting.
Before his tenure at Lagomarsino, Gerardo contributed his expertise to DHL as the Safety, Health & Environment Responsible from September 2013 to August 2014. In this capacity, he demonstrated a strong commitment to fostering a safe and healthy working environment, a precursor to his subsequent roles in sustainability leadership.
